Primary headaches are those that do not arise due to a medical condition. These include cluster headaches, migraine, tension headaches, and new daily persistent headaches (NDPH).
Secondary headaches are those that are related to medical conditions and include head injury, disease of blood vessels in the brain, infection, tumor, trauma, sinus congestion, infection, medication overuse, high blood pressure or hypertension, etc.

- Exposure to second-hand smoke
- Strong odors from perfumes
- Strong odors from household chemicals
- Exposure to allergens
- Excessive consumption of foods or ingredients like caffeine, alcohol, fermented foods, chocolate, or cheese.

Yoga poses for relief from the common headache

If your headache issues persist, we would recommend you consult your healthcare professional. Yoga asanas help you improve your health to a certain extent; however, it must be understood that they are not replacements for Doctors’ prescriptions.
Let us now try to see some of the asanas that may help you relieve the common headache. In the beginning, these asanas may not be easy to do however, gradually with consistent practice in yoga group sessions coupled with the guidance from the
trained professional trainers of Yoga Hut, anyone can master them.
In this Yoga Asana, you need to stand tall with your feet hip-width apart. Then bend at the hips to extend the crown of your head straight down towards the floor, however, you need to do this at a steady pace when you do. You need to soften your knees to increase the stretch while keeping your heels flat on the mat. Focus your eyes on one point towards the back edge of your mat to keep the concentration. Let your hands rest on the mat or a block. You can also choose to hold your elbows. Once you do this, stay here for at least 7-9 breaths.
Get onto your hands and knees and keep your feet together, then widen your knees to the sides of your body. Thereafter, reach your arms forward on the mat and simultaneously
rest your forehead on the mat further extending your hips to the mat behind you. Keep the back of your neck long. Let your shoulders and upper back be relaxed. Stay in this position for 8-10 breaths.
Lie on your back and let your buttocks be against the wall. Extend your legs up against the side of the wall. Let your upper body relax with your arms next to your torso. Let your palms face up and stay in this position for at least 8-10 breaths.
Lie on your back on a mat and draw your knees slowly to your chest. After this, proceed to lower your legs to one side. As you keep your hips stacked, one side over the other, proceed to stretch your arms straight out to the sides of the mat with your palms facing up. Cast your ceiling or over to the hand opposite your knees. Stay in this position for six breaths. Once done on one side, proceed to repeat on the other side.
- The spinal shoulder and chest stretch:
Begin with placing a bolster on a rolled-up towel on the mat and lie down with your face up. This will support the length of your spine. Open your arms out to the sides of your body to form a ‘T’ shaped with your palms facing up by letting your hands and shoulders drop towards the floor. Do try to stay in this position for at least 8-10 breaths.
Yoga is a very low-key indoor exercise. It is just perfect. These
